PRESENTATION TOPIC

“Crypto Regulation”

The presentation will cover the regulatory risk to financial institutions associated with crypto currencies and digital assets in one form or another.  We will go through applicable federal laws, rules and regulations as well as enforcement actions currently that have taken place in the last 12 months.  We will also go through NY State law and the NYDFS as this is the essentially the "model law".  Finally, we will look at crypto/digital assets as a class and "opine" on the future of this unique asset class as well as some use cases which have proven to be effective.

Timothy Dunfey, Esq, Alahambra Compliance

Timothy is a bank regulatory compliance and compliance risk management professional who has more than a decade of industry experience with financial services companies ranging in size from small banks with less than one hundred million dollars to multinationals such as Citibank, American Express and Morgan Stanley.

 

He has assisted domestic and international financial institutions assess and address various types of compliance risks, developed a plan to mitigate compliance risk and manage communications with federal bank regulators, federal securities regulators and state bank and securities regulators concerning regulatory risk.

 

He has done some pioneering compliance work in the space of crypto product development and governance of which he will focus on that topic for this talk.
